CFR Brown Bag Series: Geographical and Racial Disparities in Mental Health

The Center for Family Research will kick off our Brown Bag Series on Tuesday, Oct 6 from 12:30-1:30 PM in the Journalism Building Room 240. The series will highlight the research CFR conducts to improve service and outcomes for families. The first workshop has been scheduled in collaboration with the Center for Human Resources Research (CHRR) and the Initiative for Population Research (IPR). The Center for Family Research was a recipient of a seed grant from CHRR/IPR in the 2008-2009 academic year regarding its work on geographical and racial disparities in mental health care (matched by a grant from the Ohio Department of Mental Health, whose large statewide database is being utilized for this project). On Oct 6, the CFR staff will discuss the demographic characteristics of the sample, preliminary analyses and findings, and policy implications of the research they conducted using ODMH's large statewide database and the geographical and racial disparities they found in mental health care.
